Net Worth Update 4 - July 2026

It's been a few months since my last update, but figure there was no time like the mid-year point to post another update. If monthly updates don't come in then I'll do my best to commit to quarterly posts.

In the 3 months since my last post there wasn't anything all that major happening with me. I sold my car saving me the $750 a month I was putting towards the loan and pocketed a little over $9k which I subsequently spent $5k on Invisialign which I had been looking to get for the last several years. With the lack of car payment, I increase my direct deposit into my brokerage account from $400 monthly to $500. I'd have liked to do more but I'm looking to save more cash in case we end up needing 2 cars again and if we decide to buy a home after renting these last two years.

From a financial perspective the market has benefited everyone's 401ks and brokerage accounts, but my HSA continues to lag as the price of Bitcoin continues it's downward descent (my HSA is fully FBTC if you haven't read previous posts). Bitcoin would have to crash another 50%+ from here for it to even come close to my cost basis and my investment horizon is very long to say the least. What will interest me most about Bitcoin is the next halvening in 2028 and the market's reaction to that may push me into diversifying that bucket considerably.

Looking at my expenses the last few months it seems like there's a correlation between my monthly spending and when I've wrote a post for this blog. That correlation won't hold true for this month. With a 3 paycheck month I put off some larger purchases like new tires and pre-purchasing tickets for a show in September for this month and then had family in town for 8 days which always increases my spend. I'll likely have to buy a plane ticket as well to take care of a family member post surgery, but outside of that I'll do my best to limit spending.

On a personal note, my motivation for work has dipped again. I've added 5 new team members and responsibility for a whole new business line without any increase in pay which has lead to frustration and with the higher expectations. My spouse and I continue to question why we sell 50+ hours of our week to corporate America and purchase items that end up owning us. The desire for FI grows more each day. Our overpriced lease ends next May and we'll need to make a decision on where to live after that, but no matter where we move to it will end up much cheaper than what we pay now, thus fueling our savings further.

On a side hustle note, I also have a few websites built with a friend that earned us $385.94 while costing us $208.05 last month. Our net cash flow for the last 3 months was $221.77 with $901.50 earned and $679.73 outgoing. Hoping the costs subside as AI development costs wind down even though we have plenty of features we still want to add. I may do a series dedicated to side hustles and vibe coding if there's an interest there.

That's all for this month, and I'll try to be more consistent moving forward with the updates.
