Net Worth Update 5 - October 2026
Made comment in August's update that when I plan to write for this blog my expenses drop, but the flip side of that is my spending increasing during the month's I don't write. That held true for August and September's spending coming in $700 more than July's.
I spent 14 days traveling in September and was helping a sick family out of state which is a big reason my spending increased. I'll be traveling another 10 days in October and will have family in town for another 5 so unsure how this month will play out. I know this is has been a more financial focused blog with elements of FIRE, but at the end of the day I'm human and never intended to be a FIRE role model.

With all that said, net worth has increased significantly this year growing almost $80k. Most of that is attributed to a strong stock market, but also focused on maxing out my 401k, HSA and contributing monthly to a brokerage. After a couple years with a 3% raise, I'm hoping I end up with something a bit higher this year so i can continue increasing my automated brokerage contributions.
Lastly, from a side hustle perspective we had our first annual subscriber for $2k and several more monthly subs at $200. Last 3 month inflows have been $3.9k with outflows at $450 leaving the business bank account at $4.8k all in. Our biggest producing site has run into some operational issues in the backoffice so hoping to sort that out this month. We're still looking to monetize our other site that's receiving 60k+ visitors a month more efficiently beyond ad revenue that's been hovering around $100-150 a month.
